Raizes Teatro has developed a collaboration with Teatro Massimo Palermo exploring the encounter between theatre, freestyle football and public space.
The project brings artistic and physical practices beyond traditional cultural venues, creating opportunities for young people to experience performance, movement and creativity directly within their neighbourhoods.
Activities have taken place in different areas of Palermo, including the monumental staircase, ZEN, Danisinni and Brancaccio, at Centro Pino Puglisi.
Through theatre workshops, freestyle football and collective artistic activities, participants are invited to develop coordination, rhythm, physical awareness, creativity and confidence, while discovering new ways of relating to others and to the spaces they inhabit.
Freestyle football becomes a shared language: accessible, visual and based on movement, discipline and creativity. Theatre opens another dimension, allowing participants to transform personal experiences and emotions into stories, gestures and collective expression.
The project reimagines public space as a place for culture, encounter and participation, bringing artistic practice into communities and creating connections between young people, artists and cultural institutions.
At the heart of the collaboration is a simple idea: culture does not have to wait for people to enter a theatre. It can meet them where they live, gather and imagine their future.
